Carmichael is a census-designated place rather than an incorporated city, and it moves like the older suburb it is: larger lots, mature oaks, long front paths and the occasional gravel drive. None of that is difficult, but it does change how long a job takes, and a mover who quotes it from a floor plan without asking about the walk from the door to the kerb is quoting the wrong number.

Larger lots mean longer carries. On an hourly job that is time rather than a fee, and it is the difference between an estimate that holds and one that does not. When we ask how far the front door is from where a truck can stop, that is why.
Trees decide where the truck parks
Carmichael keeps its oaks, and a 26-foot truck with a raised roof does not fit under all of them. We look at the street on the way in and, where it is tight, bring a smaller truck or shuttle from a clear spot — decided in advance, not improvised on the day.

Do you charge extra for a long carry from the house to the truck?
No fee — it is counted as time, which is already in the estimated hours. That is the whole difference between an hourly quote you can trust and a flat quote that grows on the day.
What if the street is too narrow for a big truck?
We look before move day. If the street or the tree canopy is tight, we bring a smaller truck or park where there is room and shuttle. It is a plan made in advance, not a problem discovered at eight in the morning.
Is a move from Carmichael to Fair Oaks charged double drive time?
Usually not. The two are roughly four miles apart, which is under California’s five-mile threshold, so the drive is billed once. Carmichael to Sacramento or Roseville clears it and is billed twice, as the tariff requires.
