Around the old village the lots are irregular, some driveways slope, and a few properties sit below the road. East towards Madison and Hazel the access is ordinary suburban: wide streets, flat drives, short carries. We ask which one you are in before quoting hours, because the slope and the walk are what change the number.
| Home size | Crew | Typical total |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | 2 · $129/hr | from $516 |
| 1 bedroom | 2 · $129/hr | from $516 |
| 2 bedrooms | 2 · $129/hr | from $710 |
| 3 bedrooms | 3 · $179/hr | from $1253 |
Truck included · minimum 3 hours of labour plus 1 hour of travel, so $516 with two movers · a longer drive bills the doubled time instead, as the state tariff requires
What moves the hours here
A sloped driveway
The truck parks where it is safe and the crew walks the difference. That is time in the estimate, not a fee, and it is better in the estimate than discovered on the day.
Steps down to the door
Some homes near the bluff sit below the road. Carrying up is slower than carrying along, and it belongs in the hours before you book.
The four-mile hop to Carmichael
One of the few routes here that stays under the five-mile threshold, so the drive is billed once. Sacramento, Folsom and Roseville all clear it and are doubled.
Summer starts
The valley runs past 100°F for weeks. We start early on those, which is easier on the crew and on your furniture, and it costs fewer billable hours.
Double drive time, and why it is on your bill
Maximum Rate Tariff 4, Item 36: an hourly local move bills loading, unloading and double the driving time between your two addresses. The tariff sets no distance threshold, so it applies however short the drive. It is the state tariff rather than a company surcharge, and the line is on your estimate before you book.
Questions people ask
My driveway is steep. Does that change the price?
It changes the hours, not the rate. Tell us when you book and the estimate will already have it in.
Is the drive to Carmichael doubled?
No — about four miles, under the threshold, so it is billed once. Fair Oaks to Sacramento or Folsom clears it and is doubled under Maximum Rate Tariff 4.
Can you pack as well?
Yes, whole-home or just the kitchen and the fragile things, at its own lower hourly rate. Materials you keep are quoted separately.
