How much do movers cost in Carmichael?
A local move in Carmichael is charged by the hour with the truck included, on a minimum of three hours of work plus one hour of travel. The variable here is the walk: larger lots mean a longer carry from the door to wherever the truck can legally and safely stop.
Not taking bookings yet — our California mover permit is with the state regulator. The rates and the way we work are below; ask anything and we will answer.

Carmichael moves like the older suburb it is. Lots are bigger, oaks are taller, front paths are longer, and a few driveways are gravel. None of that is difficult work, but all of it is slower work, and an estimate written without asking about it will be short.
| Home size | Crew | Typical total |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | 2 · $129/hr | from $516 |
| 1 bedroom | 2 · $129/hr | from $516 |
| 2 bedrooms | 2 · $129/hr | from $710 |
| 3 bedrooms | 3 · $179/hr | from $1253 |
Truck included · minimum 3 hours of labour plus 1 hour of travel, so $516 with two movers · a longer drive bills the doubled time instead, as the state tariff requires
What moves the hours here
The carry from door to truck
The single biggest variable in this area. When we ask how far the front door is from where a truck can stop, this is why: on an hourly job the answer is worth more than the number of bedrooms.
Tree canopy
A 26-foot truck with a raised roof does not fit under every oak here. Where a street is tight we bring a smaller truck or shuttle from a clear spot, decided before move day rather than improvised on it.
Long-settled houses
Twenty or thirty years in one home means a garage, a shed, a loft, and furniture assembled in the room it stands in. Disassembly and reassembly are part of the hourly work, not a separate line.
Fair Oaks is the short hop
At roughly four miles it stays under the five-mile threshold, so the drive is billed once. Sacramento, Roseville and Elk Grove all clear it and are doubled, as the tariff requires.
Double drive time, and why it is on your bill
Maximum Rate Tariff 4, Item 36: an hourly local move bills loading, unloading and double the driving time between your two addresses. The tariff sets no distance threshold, so it applies however short the drive. It is the state tariff rather than a company surcharge, and the line is on your estimate before you book.
Questions people ask
Does a long walk to the truck cost extra?
Not as a fee — as time, which is already counted in your estimated hours. There is no long-carry fee here or anywhere else on this site.
Is Carmichael to Fair Oaks billed at double drive time?
Usually not: the two are about four miles apart, under the state threshold, so the drive is billed once. Carmichael to Sacramento or Roseville clears it and is doubled.
What should I tell you when I call?
The two addresses, the date, roughly how far the door is from where a truck can park, and what is in the garage, the shed and the loft. That is enough for an estimate that holds.
