How much do movers cost in Arden-Arcade?

Arden-Arcade was built out between 1945 and 1965, and the numbers still show it: 30,693 of its 40,578 homes predate 1980, and 12,235 of them went up in the 1950s alone. Narrower hallways, tighter turns at the top of the stairs, doorways hung for a different decade. None of that is a surcharge; it is minutes on each trip, and on a full house those minutes are the difference between a four-hour estimate and a five-hour invoice.
Double drive time, and why it is on your bill
Maximum Rate Tariff 4, Item 36: an hourly local move bills loading, unloading and double the driving time between your two addresses. The tariff sets no distance threshold, so it applies however short the drive. It is the state tariff rather than a company surcharge, and the line is on your estimate before you book.

Is an apartment move cheaper than a house move here?
Not automatically. An apartment usually holds less, which cuts the hours, and usually has a lift and a longer carry, which adds them. The rate is the same either way, and the estimate is built from your actual access rather than from the type of building.
Why is the drive doubled when I am only moving across Arden-Arcade?
Because California requires it on every hourly local move — Maximum Rate Tariff 4, Item 36 — and the tariff sets no distance threshold. A short drive doubled is still a short drive, which is why a move inside Arden-Arcade is one of the cheaper ones we quote.
