West Sacramento is separated from Sacramento by the river and from its own history by an act of consolidation: Broderick, Bryte and Southport became one city in 1987. Those names still describe the moving job. Broderick and Bryte are older, tighter and closer to the bridges; Southport is roughly half the city’s land and almost all of it went up in the housing booms of the early 1990s and early 2000s, which means wide streets and level drives. It is also one of the places the Slavic community of the region settled in numbers, and we work here in Russian as readily as in English.

Crossing the bridge counts as distance
West Sacramento to midtown looks like nothing on a map and it clears the five-mile threshold anyway once you account for the route to a bridge and the traffic on it. Maximum Rate Tariff 4 Item 36 then requires the drive to be billed twice. We would rather show you that in the estimate than have it appear as a longer day than promised.
Southport and old West Sacramento are different access
Southport is newer and easy: level driveways, wide roads, attached garages. Broderick and Bryte are the opposite in the way older neighbourhoods usually are — shorter drives, narrower streets, sometimes a walk from where the truck can legally stand. Both are fine; they take different hours.
Baptists settled here, Pentecostals settled east
The Russian-speaking settlement of the Sacramento region followed the churches, and West Sacramento was one of the places that drew families early. It is the reason a mover who speaks the language is worth asking for here, and why our estimates are written in Russian when that is what you want.
Summer heat, and an early start
The valley runs past 100°F for weeks at a time, and there is little shade on a new Southport street. We start early in summer. It is easier on the crew and on your furniture, and it finishes the job in fewer billable hours.

One hourly rate with the truck inside it. The minimum is 3 hours of work plus 1 hour of travel — $516 with two movers, at $129 an hour.
California bills that drive twice over — Maximum Rate Tariff 4, Item 36. It applies to every hourly local move, whatever the distance. It is the state tariff rather than our surcharge, and it is on the estimate before you book.

Is a move to Sacramento charged as a long-distance move?
No — it is a local hourly move, the same as any other. What is different is the drive time: over five miles between addresses, California requires it to be billed twice, and West Sacramento to most of Sacramento clears that. It is on the estimate as hours, before you book.

Do you work in Yolo County as well as Sacramento County?
Yes. The county line makes no difference to the rate. West Sacramento, Davis and Woodland are all normal bookings, and the only thing that changes with distance is the drive time on the clock.
Can you move a flat into storage and out again later?
Yes. Storage moves are something we do — into a unit, out of one, or straight from the old home. Each leg is its own booking with its own minimum, and we will say what both will cost before you commit to either.
