How much do movers cost in West Sacramento?
A local move in West Sacramento is charged by the hour with the truck inside the rate, on a minimum of three hours of work plus one hour of travel. Crossing the river looks short on a map and still clears California’s five-mile threshold once you account for the route to a bridge, so the drive is billed twice — which is the state tariff rather than a river surcharge.

Broderick, Bryte and Southport became one city in 1987, and those names still describe the job. Southport is roughly half the city and almost all of it went up in the booms of the early 1990s and early 2000s: wide streets, level drives. Broderick and Bryte are older and tighter. The estimate is different for each, and it should be.
| Home size | Crew | Typical total |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | 2 · $129/hr | from $516 |
| 1 bedroom | 2 · $129/hr | from $516 |
| 2 bedrooms | 2 · $129/hr | from $710 |
| 3 bedrooms | 3 · $179/hr | from $1253 |
Truck included · minimum 3 hours of labour plus 1 hour of travel, so $516 with two movers · a longer drive bills the doubled time instead, as the state tariff requires
What moves the hours here
The bridge counts as distance
The route to a crossing and the traffic on it push most West Sacramento to Sacramento pairs past five miles, and Item 36 of Maximum Rate Tariff 4 then requires the driving time to be billed twice.
Southport loads fast, the old town does not
Level driveways and attached garages in Southport; shorter drives, narrower streets and sometimes a walk from where the truck can legally stand in Broderick and Bryte. On an hourly job that difference is hours, not opinion.
Summer heat pushes the start time earlier
The valley runs past 100°F for weeks and there is little shade on a new Southport street. An early start is easier on the crew and your furniture, and it finishes the job in fewer billable hours.
Double drive time, and why it is on your bill
Maximum Rate Tariff 4, Item 36: an hourly local move bills loading, unloading and double the driving time between your two addresses. The tariff sets no distance threshold, so it applies however short the drive. It is the state tariff rather than a company surcharge, and the line is on your estimate before you book.
Questions people ask
Is a move across the river a long-distance move?
No. It is an ordinary local hourly move. The only difference is that the drive between your addresses is over five miles and therefore billed twice, as the state requires of every mover.
Пишете смету по-русски?
Да. Владелец сам отвечает и сам пишет сметы — по-русски и по-английски. Часть бригады говорит по-украински.
Do you work in Yolo County generally?
Yes — West Sacramento, Davis and Woodland are all normal bookings, and the county line does not change the hourly rate.
